...In the Name of ALLAH...
Memory...
...priceless treasure for human beings. Who cannot live with it? No matter long or short term memory, we thrive to remember. Reminiscing beautiful memories, we smile and laugh. Remembering ugly ones, we think it over...and even cry. That's how we live, right? Every time a wonderful event occurs in our life, we always wanna preserve them in whatever forms of convenient stuff for future momentous recollection. Pictures, videos, poems, diaries, DVD, and most importantly, in our own mind. ALLAH has specially created mind, a unique gift to us humans, to differentiate right and wrong, to make decision in life, to think how to survive, to serve HIM as khalifa. On the other hand, ugly memories, no one wanna think about it. They hurt so much, sometimes use up our energy just to go through with it. People said we live to forget, yet we also forget to live. Tak salah kan ingat semula bad memories; they might hurt us all over again, but we learn from the best and worst. Moga taklah pisang berbuah dua or tiga kali. We learn to be stronger, how to survive in cruel world (It's really painful, but that's why I could live till now). Some even mengabadikan pengalaman sedih masing2 in songs. That way, we could learn from others' as well...
I just finished watching a Japanese series [Zettai Kareshi], about an android falling in love with a human girl. A robot can never has a true heart or an ego, apatah lagi memory. I'm not going to talk about this series here, just wanna share some of the scripts:
[Q: You're a robot, you never have a childhood memories, right?
A: Yes, I never have one.
Q: That's sad, though...]
[Q: To rob away from a robot his emotions, isn't it the same with taking away his life??]
A: Yes, I never have one.
Q: That's sad, though...]
[Q: To rob away from a robot his emotions, isn't it the same with taking away his life??]
Tu baru robot, kalau manusia camne pulak? Bayangkan what happened bila terlupa some memories, kita ketuk2 kepala, termenung sorang2. Kosongnya hidup bila no memories exist at all. Like an empty eggshell. Fragile and breakable. Look at Alzheimers' patients, they forget most of the valuable memorable experiences they've gone throughout their life. Sedih kan? As observers, we feel sad for them, lebih2 lagi when we're no strangers, we're the one who being forgotten...
So, cherish everything around us, value them when they're still in our grasp, in our sight. Also, cherish other's memories of us. Being remembered by others is meaningful and priceless, especially as good person. After we die, after we are long gone from this world...that's the only way we could still live, in their memories...
